This year we opened up a new room where students can relax and talk. Every Friday we all meet in this lounge and each student teaches the rest of the class something. Last year students talked about their countries, culture, food, nightlife and sport. This year we have a lot of great students who make Friday presentations really fun!

Nelson from Cuba told everyone about a fantastic beach in Cuba called Varadero. It is a peninsula with beaches on each side and expensive resorts. Nelson explained that it is a really popular place with a lot of people and great restaurants and bars.

Elena talked about an interesting historic item from Rome where she comes from. It is a face, carved into a slab of stone and it is called ‘De Bocca de Verite’ which means ‘The Mouth of Truth’. People put their hand into the mouth of the carving and say something. The story says that if people tell a lie then the ‘mouth’ will bite their hand off! The carving is very old and many people visit it each year in the centre of Rome to test their honesty or their partner’s honesty!
